Up and down lights do exactly as the name describes. A bulb at the top and bottom of the fitting casts swathes of light in upwards and downwards directions which results in an abundance of both illumination and ambience.
Ideally placed in hallways to brighten up these often dark areas of the home, they can also create an interesting feature, adding warmth and background lighting to living spaces.
