A pair of table lamps is a classic lighting design choice, and it is a great way to add warmth and cosiness to a hallway or at either side of the bed. Table lamps are a brilliant way to add that finishing touch to a newly decorated space and will brighten up a dark corner effortlessly.

Table lamps work well in virtually every room in the house. A more playful design is ideal as nightlight in kids’ bedrooms, whilst a more sophisticated glass or metal table lamp would look superb on a side table or dresser.

Table lamps can be used in most rooms in the home – on end tables in living rooms and conservatories, desks in home offices, on bedside tables, and on console tables in dining rooms and hallways. Rather than being the main light in a room, table lamps are generally used to add to the ambient light in a space, or as task lighting – such as for reading on a bedside table, or on a desk. But although table lamps tend to be for a single purpose, there is an incredibly wide range of shapes, sizes, styles, colours, and materials, so you can choose the type of lamp that is right for the space.

In rooms that are classically styled, a traditional stem lamp with a metallic base and a fabric lamp shade can look fantastic – and can even be reminiscent of hotel styles, if placed by the bedside. Anglepoise style lamps are perfect on desks, since they can be angled to where the light is required, and there are decorative lantern styles that can simply add to the ambience of the space. Many modern table lamps have the bulbs exposed, making a feature of the bulb, and allowing you to choose the bulb that is right for your needs.

If you’re looking for a lamp that offers a sculptural shape, then consider one of our LED styles. LEDs offer significantly more flexibility, and designers are now working with them to create more interesting shapes and styles for all types of lighting – including gorgeous table lamps.

Where ease of use is essential, then touch lamps are a great choice. These types of table lamps don’t have switches, but rather detect touch – so not only are they convenient for everyone to use, but they are ideal for any family members with mobility, or dexterity issues.
